The Red Hickory is a species of tree belonging to the Hickory (Carya) and the larger Walnut (Juglandaceae) family of trees. It is known to be a hybrid of the Shagbark Hickory (Carya Ovata) and Pignut Hickory (Carya Glabra) but this is still being debated as it presents features both present in the two individual tree species, but some that are unique to itself.
